SCHMEISEROVÁ M., ZEMAN L. (2000): The effect of amino acid supplement on reproductive performance of first parity sows. Sborník přednášek MendelNET´00, Agronomická fakulta, MZLU v Brně, 68.

ABSTRACT:
Eighty – five first parity sows of LW breed were used in experiment to determine the effect of amino acids supplement on their reproductive performance. The experiment was conducted from mating to weaning. Sows were divided into four groups according to amino acid supplement (+) in gestation (G) or lactation (L) so that there were all four possible combinations (G–L– / G–L+ / G+L– / G+L+). Diets were supplemented with amino acids up to ideal protein value. In gestation sows were fed once a day and consumed 2.2 kg of mixture (12.9 MJ ME) a day, in lactation sows were fed twice a day (13.1 MJ ME) according to number of piglets (10 piglets – 6.2 kg ± 0.4 kg per piglet). Number of piglets born alive was the lowest for group fed with diet supplemented in lactation but the number of piglets at 21 days of age and at weaning was the highest for this group compared to other groups. Also piglets of sows treated in lactation were heavier through whole lactation and gained more from birth to 21 days of age and to weaning than piglets of the other groups. Results were not significantly different.
